'What If...?' - News on the latest Marvel Series

We only just watched the final episode of the first season of Marvel's “Loki” last week, but Marvel Studios already have their next Disney+ series ready to go! 'What If...?' will show us the various alternative 'universes' after the destruction of the timeline at the hand of Sylvie, or 'Lady Loki' if you prefer, although we can safely assume that she will be 'Enchantress': this is in fact the name she’s given in the Marvel comics, but let’s pretend we don’t know that yet 🙃.

The first episode will be available to stream on 11th August 2021, and we already know it will be a 10 episode long season. Each episode will fall on a Wednesday, with the season finale falling on 13th October 2021. But fear not! Kevin Feige has already confirmed a second season, which will have another 10 episodes. In this animated series, we will also meet a new entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeffrey Wright will play Uata, a 'Watcher' (Marvel Watchers are members of a superior Alien race) that will narrate the various stories and anecdotes of alternate realities.

Sadly, the human counterparts of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Taneleer Tivan, Dr. Steven Strange and Carol Danvers won't play their MCU roles in this animated series, but the voice cast that have been confirmed are: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, Stanley Tucci, Djimon Hounsou, Paul Rudd, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Dominic Cooper, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum, Toby Jones, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, David Dastmalchian and Neil McDonaugh. Poignantly, we will hear Chadwick Boseman’s voice once again in What If...?, as he managed to record his piece before his premature departure.

All we can do now is wonder… what if Iron-Man and Captain America will be zombified? What if T'Challa will save Tony Stark? What If…? We just have to wait and see! For the time being, go get yourself some cool Marvel Merch!
