Stranger Things Season 4 - What to expect?
After two very long years of waiting, Netflix finally announced that the fourth season of Stranger Things will be released in 2022, even if we have not yet been given a release date.
We can assume that this season will be focused on two main themes: Eleven and the recovery of her powers, and the rescue of Hopper. Yes, you got it right: Jim Hopper is alive! You can see him in the latest teaser, where he is seen being held prisoner in Russia.
But let's look back at some of the highlights of season 3 to see what we can expect from the new season.
- Recall to Chernobyl?
Right at the start of season 3 we are clearly shown that the Russians were trying to open the portal to the "Upside Down" long before the events taking place in the second season of Stranger Things.
A few episodes later, the fourth to be specific, the quartet made up of Steve, Dustin, Robin and Erica manages to enter the secret underground Russian base; it's here Erica would like to try to drink a strange green liquid which later turns out to be harmful.
The group thinks that the liquid could be used to power a nuclear weapon; much to the displeasure of the fans, this theory is immediately excluded in one of the following episodes, where the liquid is simply used to power the reactor that opens the space-time gap.
Now, a safe assumption can be made: green liquids in movies, series, anime and similar are associated with uranium, so it is believed that there will be references to Chernobyl in this series, and that this might be linked to what happened to all the other children who have undergone the same treatment as Eleven.
- An army of humanoid Demogorgons?
In the sixth episode of season 3, while looking with Dustin for a way to escape from the Russian base and to save Steve and Robin (who have been captured), Erica notices a large cage and asks Dustin how big a Demogorgon was.
At the end of the episode, a fully grown and human-like Demogorgon is seen. Does that mean we will have an army of developed Demogorgons in the fourth season?
- Eleven as the main villain?
After being bitten by the Mind Flayer, Eleven could turn into the main enemy of the new season of Stranger Things. Apparently, Eleven manages to eliminate the intruder who was under her skin, but can you remember what happened to the young Byers? After having expelled part of the creature that contaminated him, we saw that the infection was still there in a new scene. The same thing could happen to our star, as far as we know.
There are other fascinating theories, and we're going to spend our time searching for them until we can watch the new Stranger Things season!
We are glad to confirm that we'll meet again our favourites among the cast of Stranger Things: Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), Sadie Sink (Max), Joe Keery (Steve), Natalie Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Maya Hauke (Robin), Winona Ryder (Joyce).
That's all for today, folks!
